NEED ABORTION INFORMATION?
As with any major medical procedure, you probably have questions. We can help provide answers:
How far along am I?
An ultrasound is the best tool to determine gestational age, which will play an important role in discussing abortion procedures and pregnancy options.
Do I need an abortion? Is my pregnancy viable?
Maybe your pregnancy test was positive… but is your pregnancy viable? 1 in 5 pregnancies end in a miscarriage. Little Way provides ultrasounds to determine viability; this is a great first step.
How will an abortion affect my health?
Abortion is considered a major medical procedure, and there are common side effects, both physical and emotional. It’s important to understand that there are two types of abortion, medical (also called the abortion pill) and surgical, and both have their own unique risks. Educating yourself on abortion procedures and side effects will help you make the best decision for yourself. Schedule an appointment to discuss.
Is it important to get an ultrasound before an abortion?
Yes, it is highly recommended for a couple reasons. There are two types of abortion, so determining how far along you are will help you know which abortion options are available. Also, an ultrasound can determine pregnancy viability. At Little Way, an ultrasound is available at no cost to you and can provide a wealth of information about your pregnancy.
Do I need to be tested for STI’s before an abortion?
Yes. Being tested (and treated if needed) for sexually transmitted infections is very important before an abortion to prevent potential spread of infection to the uterus. We can provide this service as well.
How does the abortion pill work?
The “abortion pill” actually consists of two pills – two medications. The first is administered at a clinic, this medication blocks the pregnancy hormone that supports the embryo. The second medication taken at home, 24-48 hours later, causes the uterus to expel the pregnancy. Understanding this process, as well as the side effects and risks, is considered informed consent and is necessary prior to having an abortion. Schedule an appointment today to discuss.
Do I need a doctor’s prescription to get an abortion pill?
The abortion pill is not like other medications, therefore, Kentucky law requires that the first abortion pill be dispensed during a visit with a physician after pregnancy verification via ultrasound has been determined.
What if I change my mind after taking the first abortion pill?
Often women have a change of heart after taking the first abortion pill. There have been many successful reversals. AbortionPillReversal.com can help, time is of the essence.
Can I Get the Abortion Pill by Mail?
While you can order the abortion pill online and have it delivered to your house, it’s incredibly risky.
While searching, you may come across sites that claim to deliver the abortion pill by mail. Oftentimes, these providers are located overseas and the pills they provide are not FDA-approved. Currently, it’s illegal to purchase Mifeprex online. The FDA requires the abortion pill to be prescribed and dispensed under the supervision of a qualified physician for your safety.
Aside from that, it’s crucial to be in touch with a prescribing physician if complications arise.
You may experience severe abdominal cramping, nausea, and heavy bleeding after taking the abortion pill. You will need a licensed healthcare provider to confirm whether the procedure was successful or if an infection is developing.
